About Brunswick County

Brunswick County is located in a coastal plain region of southeastern NC. Known for its stellar list of NC beaches, including Bald Head Island, the southernmost point of North Carolina. Brunswick County is a well-loved tourist destination. It was formed in 1764 from parts of New Hanover and Bladen Counties and is one of the fastest growing counties in the state. Tourism is a thriving part of the economy here. From Oak Island to Calabash (located on the border of South Carolina), there is a plethora of tasty seafood restaurants, local surf shops and shopping experiences. Islands and Towns

To live in a county with a large variety of beaches is like living in paradise. Just to name a few, there are: Bald Head Island Beach, Oak Island Beaches including Caswell Beach and Long Beach, along with the South Brunswick Islands including Holden Beach, Ocean Isle Beach and Sunset Beach. If beach life is calling, Brunswick has something for every beachcomber. Each coastal beach community has its own feel and charm. Throughout these beach communities, you will find several public beach access points. Other coastal towns include Southport, Calabash, Shallotte and Leland.
 
 

Oak Island and Caswell Beach

A quiet beach community, this nostalgic beach town is a well loved family vacation spot. Think bike riding and trips to the ice cream shop, Make a visit to the Oak Island Lighthouse, located in the town of Caswell Beach, not far from the mouth of the Cape Fear River. Built in 1958, Oak Island Lighthouse is one of the youngest lighthouses to line the NC shores. For the ultimate day of golf, visit The Course At Oak Island. Many Wilmington locals enjoy this golf course, being only 30 minutes away. Head to the Oak Island pier and hang out at Koko Cabana Restaurant, and choose anything from fried green tomatoes to local seafood dishes.
 
 

Ocean Isle Beach & Sunset Beach- Beach Towns Set In Tradition 

Many families, even locals within an hour, choose to spend a week or two vacation every year. Many families have chosen to make Ocean Isle and Sunset Beaches their permanent or second home. There are lots of reason why Ocean Isle and Sunset Beach have been a favorite for years! White sandy beaches, seashells, restaurants, outdoor activities-come have it all, with two beaches that are so close they seem seamless as one large community. After a day of sun and fun, cool down with a visit to Ingram Planetarium.

You can’t take a trip to Ocean Isle Beach and Sunset Beach NC without making a stop at Calabash! Well known for it’s local seafood, the shrimp boats back right up to the restaurants.
